Ready for a career boost? Our mentoring program pairs you with experienced professionals for personalized, one-on-one guidance. Whether you’re newly certified, navigating a transition, or looking to sharpen your skills, mentorship can be the catalyst you need.
Meet Greig Greenwald, a Program Manager at Apple who transitioned from 35 years in defense contracting to tech, and now mentors others through similar career pivots. Greig joined the mentoring program in 2012 to maintain his PDUs while navigating his own shift to the tech industry. What did he discover? Mentoring isn’t about being an expert. It’s about listening, growing together, and helping others see their own potential.

How It Works: Mentee-Led, Flexible, and Built on Listening
Our mentor program is built around a simple idea: there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. The structure is mentee-led, meaning your mentor adapts to your challenges, questions, and transitions. Over the course of about 8 months, mentee-mentor pairs have roughly 12 one-on-one sessions tailored entirely to your needs, whether that’s prepping for a certification exam, navigating a career shift, or building confidence in a new role.
The key is showing up with intention. Mentees work best when they come to sessions with an agenda, or specific questions / challenges they want to tackle. This gives the mentor context to work with and keeps conversations grounded and productive.
Greig’s philosophy is rooted in listening: “We should use two ears and one mouth in that proportion.” When a mentor genuinely listens, mentees feel heard and bring their real challenges to the table. As an added bonus, mentors often find themselves learning from their mentees. This past cycle, Greig worked with a lawyer trained outside the U.S. who passed the PMP exam and brought fresh perspectives to the mentoring relationship. It’s a reminder that your unique experiences matter more than your traditional PM credentials.
Want to Be a Mentor? You Don’t Need All the Answers
Greig’s advice for anyone thinking about becoming a mentor is straightforward: “Just do it.” You don’t need to feel like an expert. You don’t need to have all the answers. In fact, Greig remains a mentee himself, regardless of his professional level, because “everybody needs to have a mentor and it really doesn’t matter where you are in your career.”
What does mentoring actually give you? For Greig, it’s perspective. It’s the chance to engage deeply with people from different backgrounds and industries, to challenge your own assumptions, and to be reminded of why you love this field. Our program is low-pressure, meaning it provides structure without being rigid, so you show up, listen, and see where the conversation leads. The most important thing? Your willingness to listen and grow alongside someone else.
What the Program Offers
Mentees: Whether you’re newly certified, pivoting careers, or struggling in your current role, this program gives you a safe space to ask questions without worrying what your boss or colleagues will think. You get someone in your corner who’s walked similar paths and can help you think through tough decisions. Many mentees come out of the program with newfound clarity, confidence, and sometimes even a certification under their belt.
Mentors: You get to stay engaged with the field, learn from people with completely different perspectives, and feel the tangible impact of helping someone move their career forward. Plus, the program structure keeps it manageable—you’re not signing on for an open-ended commitment, just the commitment to show up and listen.
The program uses a volunteer rotation model to keep things fresh and sustainable. Leadership changes hands each year, bringing new energy and ideas. Mentors and mentees alike become part of a community committed to growing project management professionals in the Boston area.
Ready to Get Started?
Mentees: Commit to the program. Come to sessions with a prepared agenda of questions or specific challenges. This works best if you show up ready to engage.
Mentors: No experience necessary. Just bring your willingness to listen, ask good questions, and support someone through their journey. You’ll be surprised by how much you learn in the process.

Career paths are less linear than ever. Lawyers become PMs. Defense professionals move to tech. Trying to navigate that alone? That’s what the mentoring program is for.
Whether you need guidance or want to mentor someone else, we’d love to have you. Applications open for both mentees and mentors on August 15th.
