You are expected to perform your duties with responsibility and timeliness. You will be expected to apply your PM skills, in the areas of organizational effectiveness, communications and stakeholder management. Many of these roles will require that you document the volunteer activities or provide reports. Also please keep your contact information up-to-date with PMI and those you are working with, such as the VP of your group.

Your volunteer activities certainly qualify for PDUs Given the PDU guidelines and categories in the Continuing Certifications Requirements (CCR) from PMI, you could obtain as many as 45 PDUs in your 3 year cycle. (this total may vary, if you have other than a PMP certification).

Simply send an email to the VP or AVP that you work with, stating the months of your activity and a brief description of your role. Also include the hour count you worked as a volunteer. When that is approved, it will be forwarded to the VP of Volunteers, and you will be emailed a certificate for printing. Save this paperwork with your records. Note: PDUs are awarded by calendar years. Depending on your involvement and when you started your volunteer assignment, you could potentially ask for two certificates, as our chapter year straddles two calendar years.
