Hey, our chapter fellow volunteers! What a glorious day we had in support of the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB)! The Greater Boston Food Bank works passionately to end hunger across Eastern Massachusetts by providing our neighbors in need the healthy food and resources they need to thrive. In 2 hours, we:
● lifted 11,160 pounds of food which were sorted into 360 31-pound boxes of food;
● packed 8300 meals.
These meals will sustain 2 families of 4 for over a year.
One of the GBFB employees said that we were “one of the best groups they’ve ever had”. They also remarked that we completed the packing achieving a 100% pack rate meaning that there were no extra or missing food items and all boxes were packed as expected. This is a rare achievement.
With one hand clutching the carrot, our chapter’s president Phil Cartagena enthusiastically mingled with us. His vision of leadership meets unexpected enlightenment through partnering with GBFB to make an impact on a healthy and hunger-free Eastern Massachusetts.
We ended up with 15 fellow volunteers involved.
