President's Letter
by Ed Horniak, President

Dear friends and colleagues,

It is with mixed emotions that I write my February message. We are all mourning the tremendous loss of life that was left in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated South Asia and parts of Africa.  Please see my special message on this horrible tragedy and join us in doing whatever you can to help.  Such a tragedy must be countered by a huge outpouring of generosity and support.  Over the next few days, months and years, we will see Project Management respond on a global scale to the human needs and reconstruction of vast areas devastated by the tsunami.

While our small world is eclipsed by these horrible events, let us also reflect on some positive things that affect us closer to home. Our PMI Mass Bay Chapter has concluded a very successful year. We have grown in the past year by just over 17% to nearly 1600 members. Our monthly programs have been well received and extremely well attended.  We had over 150 attendees at the recent December and January Chapter Meetings.

Chapter Meeting - February 24th, 2005
Rita Mulcahy's Risk Management - Tricks of the Trade for Project Managers
by Nick Muir, Director of Programs

Is there a magic recipe for what a project manager should know? How far have we come and what skills do project managers need? The body of this presentation has been presented to standing room only crowds and there was an encore presentation made at PMI’s annual conference in Baltimore. Come cut through all the books and articles on project management and hear what is really important. Come join us for this humorous and informative look at where we have been, where we are and what you need for the future. Let’s see how you stack up.

Special Message from the Chapter President on the Tsunami
PMI responds to tsunami relief and reconstruction
by Ed Horniak, President

Dear friends and colleagues,

Since we last spoke, the world has experienced a tragedy of immense proportions.  The tremendous grief the world is experiencing over the recent Tsunami cannot be measured or adequately expressed. As we mourn the tragic loss of life, our deepest sympathies go out to the victims, their families and their friends.  In reverence to the victims of this tragedy, PMI employees devoted a moment of silence for those who lost their lives, as well as for those survivors dealing with the aftermath, at its facilities worldwide on Wednesday, 19 January 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the prevailing time zone. We at the PMI Mass Bay Chapter observed a moment of silence at our Chapter Meeting on Thursday evening, January 20, 2005.
