Great November Meeting History has much to teach us. That was the theme of our last chapter meeting with Mark Kozak-Holland. It was our first in Cambridge and an outstanding success! So much so that we intend to be back at some point. We were pleased that quite a few people were attending a chapter meeting for the very first time.
By the way, I received a couple of messages from people who were under the impression that we were moving the meeting to Cambridge on a permanent basis.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Burlington will continue to be our main meeting location. As many of you know, we did a survey back in the spring and we were told by the membership that we needed to serve more people by moving the meeting around from time to time. This is what caused us to consider and ultimately have the meeting in other locations. Our plan, for now, is that a few times a year, we’ll hold the meeting in a location other than Burlington. The locations we have considered are Cambridge, Peabody, downtown Boston, Newton, and Quincy. We have already had a number of meetings at the Marriott in Newton so people are generally familiar with that location. In any case, not to worry, we’ll be back in Burlington in December and January and most of next year.
Year End Look This is that time of year when it is customary to take stock of where we are based on our past plans. Well for us here at the chapter, there is always a lot going on. We recently reviewed a draft of an Alliances agreement we hope to soon put in place. In the coming years, we hope to form alliances with partner organizations that will allow you to obtain more value and benefits from membership in PMI Mass Bay than ever before. More to come on this initiative in a future letter. We also kicked off our editorial review board for the newsletter. You can read about that opportunity in the upcoming paragraph. And of course, we initiated our “Service to the Members” theme by starting to reach out to our membership who live in other areas of Greater Boston and have our chapter meetings in new locations. In keeping with this theme, our Professional Development staff under Kathleen Langone (Tracey Chalifour and Diane Kemsley) has committed to try to arrange one mini-course a month for the whole year. Whew! That is quite a commitment. So far, it has been a home run with all who have attended.
And folks, we have more to come next year!
How to Earn a lot of PDUs – Submit an Article to the Chapter Newsletter At the last chapter meeting again reviewed our newsletter “submission” program and the opportunity for you to earn a lot of PDUs by sharing your real life project experiences. Our first article appeared in the October newsletter. For now, we have established an editorial board thanks to our great group of Past-Presidents. If you have an article you’d like us to consider publishing, send it to
submissions@pmimassbay.org. Our editorial board will look it over and get back to you.
NEWSLETTER Editor(s) needed Hey! We could use some help. Would you and a friend be interested in helping put out our monthly newsletter? If so, please contact either myself (
president@pmimassbay.org) or Srinivas (
volunteers@pmimassbay.org). We’d like to discuss it with you.
Thoughts about you We in the chapter leadership are working hard to provide you with a rewarding and valuable chapter experience. But we are only half of the ingredients needed to achieve this goal. YOU are the other half. We have already received great feedback and suggestions. I want you to know we respond to every e-mail we receive. So please consider what you need to be more successful in 2008. Then send us e-mail and let us know.

On behalf of the Board and all of the dedicated people working for you at the chapter, please accept our best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season!
Hope to see at the November meeting at the BURLINGTON MARRIOTT. We’ll have a special buffet dinner and gift for all of the attendees!
THANK YOU for your membership! Remember, this chapter belongs to YOU. As always, if you have thoughts or suggestions, please contact me at
president@pmimassbay.org.
