10 Ways Project Management Skills Can Help Your Career
PMI MassBay Professional Development
Regional Chapter Events Calendar – September, 2007
PMI MassBay Professional Development
We have NEWS for you!
by Kathleen Langone, PMP

As VP of Professional Development, I’d like to provide opportunities and services for all aspects of your “personal” professional development. Starting with the PMP certification to either “get you going” or pass the exam.  We can also help you stay certified by obtaining PDUs.

Study Groups and Materials
We’re going to have a “networking” approach to the study groups this fall, by using tools from the new website we’re launching, and enabling people to connect in forming study groups and sharing tips on good prep materials. We’re also going to draft our own list of “best in class” study materials and do’s and don’t in taking the exam. Diane Kemsley, who just recently passed the exam, will be heading up these initiatives and looks forward to working with the chapter. We also hope to offer a PMP prep course both in the fall and spring timeframe.

Mini-Courses and Seminars
With most of the chapter meetings, we are starting to offer a “pre-meeting” mini-course that will provide 1 PDU. These will be on a variety of topics and provide a more intimate setting since will keep the group attendance to 20 members or less. We already have a day-long seminar scheduled for December (details to be announced shortly), and are actively pursuing seminars for the late winter and spring. Assisting with our education programs this year will be Tracey Chalifour and we’ll work together to meet your education needs.

Career Day 2008
Following the very successful “Career Night” offered last April, a number of board members are working together to offer similar events for the chapter, with a “job fair” venue and tips from the “professionals” on obtaining the best jobs and honing your professional skills. Our chapter also offers an online facility to enter a resume and job hunt with key project management positions in the greater Boston area.

We want to help you!
Wherever you are in your certification process or on your career path, we’d like to offer a variety of avenues to excel in the project management profession. Please contact me (or any of the chapter board members and volunteers) with your ideas or suggestions of ways we can better meet your needs as a member of the PMI Mass Bay Chapter.  Contact me at vpprofdev@pmimassbay.org.
