Connecting Project Management to Business Goals

By Dr. William Ibbs

Dr. William Ibbs was selected by PMI seven years ago to research the issue of Project Management’s True Value.  He has proceeded to benchmark dozens of Fortune 500 companies and government agencies.  That work has allowed him to collect a vast amount of quantitative data and experiential information on an array of Project Management issues, such as:

How much do companies spend on Project Management?

How do they measure those Returns on Investment?

What Return on Investment do they achieve from Project Management investments?

What innovative practices are world-class organizations using to connect PM to Business Goals?

In this PMI dinner presentation, Dr. Ibbs will report on results he has achieved from continued benchmarking of companies.  Special emphasis will be placed on the critical issue of how companies can tie Project Management to overall business goals and increase business value, an issue that every project manager is either already confronting or soon will be.

About Dr. William Ibbs

Dr. William Ibbs has been the leader in measuring and improving Project Management Maturity, both as a professor of project management at U C Berkeley and through his firm, The Ibbs Consulting Group, Inc.  He has benchmarked more companies than anyone else using his proven PM/ROISM assessment methodology, which helps companies improve their Project Management Maturity.
