by Matt Metcalf, PMP

The 2004 Career Development Day Team has been very busy over the last month refining our plans for this year's event.  We're excited to share our plans with you. Highlights of the 2004 Career Development Day are:

o        Job Fair - We are aggressively pursuing companies in the Boston area that are in the process of expanding their project management staff.  We believe that we can offer a unique opportunity to bring successful companies together with eminently qualified PMI members.  We plan to invite a couple of select recruiting agencies as well.  If your company is looking for professional project managers, please contact our Job Fair lead, Guy Paquette, at guy.paquette2@verizon.net to discuss reserving a meet-and-greet table at the job fair.

o        Job Hunting Skills Workshops - Searching for a great job in this market requires mastering a set of key skills.  This year's Career Development Day will include a number of workshops designed to help you locate the perfect job and present your qualifications to best effect throughout the process.

o        Project Management Marketability Workshops - You've earned your PMP, which places you in an elite group of professionals.  What additional investments can you make in your PM skills to make you even more valuable in the job market?  The Mass Bay Chapter Career Development Day will offer number of seminars to help you improve your marketability as a PM.

o        Industry Sector Intelligence - Whether you're interested in learning about the latest, greatest developments in your own industry or opportunities in an entirely new space, this year's career event will provide access to experts from a number of exciting sectors from which you can choose.

This year, we will be offering the Career Development Day on Saturday, May 22, from 8:00am to 1:00pm at the BU Corporate Center in Tyngsboro, MA.  There is a $10 registration fee to help defray the cost of producing the event.

Workshops and breakout sessions will be distributed into 3 blocks of 45 minutes for each block.  There will be 3-4 sessions held within each block.  The job fair will run throughout the day.
